Veyder-Malberg Buschenberg Riesling 2018
The flagship! The terraces are located east of the Ried Klaus von Prager and are inaccessible to machines. Everything is done by hand, carried back and forth. Everything pure manual work also in the management. An extreme amount of work for a biodynamic engineer. The nose contains espresso, dried apricots, apricots, Asian spices. Then comes quince-like quince, more apricot, dried fruit, anise, orange peel, lemon, a little ice cream and green pear. A lot of salt, minerality, rock flour. Grapefruit, peach. Very punchy. Then comes acacia honey and caramel. Good fine bitter at the end, a lot of pressure, very clear, very straight forward and yet a little touch in the baroque. The wine has 5 grams of residual sugar at 13.5 ° alcohol. 50% expansion in the new 600 l acacia wood barrel and 50% in steel. Very interesting, yes exciting wine. The wood is not noticeable. The precision in the combination of this vintage with this slightly baroque typicity, the somewhat exotic fruit and the great pressure of Asian spices makes a completely different Buschenberg than 2010. No less good, more grandiose and sublime.
