Quintarelli Giuseppe Veneto Bianco Secco 2018
Bursting with succulent exotic fruits and honeyed citrus, the Bianco Secco combines intensity with energy, layering its sweet notes with bitter almond and pressed herbs, and complementing its roundness with a sturdy acidic spine. Complex but accessible, this unexpected white is enjoyable upon release, and it’ll age nicely over the medium term. Though Quintarelli gained its fame with its red wines, especially its iconic Amarone, the estate also crafts a beautiful white, evocative of the Veneto. Stunning and blonde, Quintarelli’s value-conscious white, Bianco Secco, is a seductive blend of Garganega, Trebbiano Toscano, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, and Saorin deriving from 30-year-old vines grown in mineral-rich soils; grapes ferment in temperature-controlled tanks, and the wine ages in barrel.
Known as "the Master of the Veneto," Quintarelli makes some of the world’s most sought-after wines, and their releases always create commensurate fervor. Quintarelli’s limited production Amarones, Reciotos, and Valpolicellas are the benchmark for excellence. Their greatness stems from the inherent quality of the terroir and the natural talent of this master, whose concept of vintage standards and strict grape selection rivals the great Chateau of Sauternes. Quintarelli puts his wines on the market when he deems them ready, sometimes cellaring them for decades until the right moment arrives. True thinking wines that slow the pace and teach the drinker to be silent, Quintarelli’s wines are unlike any other in the world.
