Quinta Nova de Nossa Senhora do Carmo Mirabilis Grande Reserva Branco 2018
The 2018 Branco Grande Reserva Mirabilis is mostly a field blend from old vines with 20% Gouveio aged for nine months in new oak (mostly French with 10% Hungarian). It comes in at 14% alcohol. A tank sample when tasted (the final blend and out of cask), this was set for bottling in a few weeks. A bit delicate this year, it was still impressive for its long finish, purity (even with the oak) and grip. This should age well, as it seems a bit fresher than normal, if also a bit more delicate than normal. This will still be better in a couple of years. Give it some time to settle down and try it this time next year. The structure is great but expect to see better integration of the fruit and structure. There were 1,150 cases produced. This is set for October release.
