Puligny Montrachet 1er Cru Les Folatieres 2008
The 1er Cru Folatieres is located in a prominent position in the middle of the slope, above the Clavoillon and below the Champ-Gain. The vineyard, which slopes slightly to the southeast, has a very stony, marbled soil with a very high proportion of limestone and chalk. Leflaive has 3 plots with vines that are 20 to 40 years old, a total of 1.26 hectares. All owned and of course completely biodynamically managed. Hand picked in several rounds in which only the optimally ripe grapes are harvested. The 1er Cru Polatieres then gets the same expansion as all wines at Leflaive. Slow, pneumatic pressing, 24 hours of sedimentation and then into the barrels. Fermentation in barriques with almost 20% new wood. About a third of the barrels are made from Vosges oak, two thirds are from Allier. The wine remains in the barrel for 12 months and then in the stainless steel tank for a further 6 months for harmonization before bottling. Minimal filtration before filling is only necessary if necessary.
