The prestigious Prioritia Nin-Ortiz wines are made by Esther Nin and her husband Carles. Esther is employed as a winemaker at the renowned Clos I Terrasses winery, where she looks after old vineyards. Familia Nin-Oritz winemaking uses only biodynamic wine production techniques. On the steep slopes above the village of Porrera, Esther bought a small parcel (less than 3 acres) of old vines. A few years earlier, Carles had purchased nearly 5 ha of vineyards in the nearby town of Finca les Planetes, where he restored the old vineyards of Grenache and Carignan. In the production of wine they use only organic materials, biodynamic infusions and create their own compost. Production is done entirely by hand. The fermentations are natural, taking place in neutral vessels, such as demi-muid barrels or amphorae. There is also the aging of wines. Their wines are extremely clean, elegant and balanced, with great aging potential.
