Gere Kopár 2015
The Hungarian wine zone of Villany plays host to a wonderful tradition of wine making based on its exceptional climate and geology. The southernmost of Hungary's regions promises the hot summers that add spice and ripe tannins to the wine. This blend of Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon is made from the fruit of only the best years, taking its name from the Kopar vineyard located on the extinct volcano of the same name, 'Kopar' meaning 'barren'. This poor soil tempers the spice and richness of the wines with ethereal characters of violets, dried roses and cedar. The wine has spent 18 months in barrique.
