Jean Stodden Recher Herrenberg Spätburgunder 2017
The most magnificent wine at Stodden after the old vines. Old Vines. The fermentation takes place 100% in the steel. All wines at Stodden are 100% de-stemmed. At Stodden, fermentation is basically spontaneous and a little yeast is added to help in the final stage to achieve complete fermentation. The proportion of new wood in the expansion increases significantly. The nose is spicier, we get clear black fruit with the red fruit, but still remain very fine, but approach the wine's aroma quite clearly from Aloxe Corton, with this smoky black fruit nose. However, the color is typical Ahr, rather a light, pale red. Powerful and at the same time extremely delicate and smooth, charming mouth, with fine spice, Provençal herbs, tobacco, burnt flavors, even brioche, grilled meat. Overall, gently prancing with a nice length. Clearly, it is a hobby to place the ultra-delicate Ahr red wines between the best Pinots Germany, but in their special way they have absolute justification. 2014 and the Ahr adjourn wonderfully. The Pinot Noir has great freshness here and the fruit is crisper than in warmer vintages like 2009 or 2012.
