Heimann Barbár 2017
Barbar is one of Heimann's flagships. The name is inspired by the Allegro Barbar piano work by Béla Bartók. An internationally inspired cuvée with Cabernet Franc and Merlot, but also tannates and Kékfrankos so as not to lose the domestic characteristics. And you can feel it. There is forest on the nose: dark forest berries, earthy notes of moss, leaves and undergrowth and behind it forest and meadow herbs. Nice depth, wonderfully engaging. Wonderfully balanced, not clumsy or bulky at all. Power yes, but tamed, always on the elegant side. The acidity is lively, the tannins polished. We have wild fruits, strawberries, raspberries, and black currant berries. Like the piano work, this wine is powerful and expressive, but also elegant. Good job. Not for nothing in the Gault & Millau winemaker of the year 2016 in Hungary.
