Surprisingly delicate and fresh. Quite restrained and dense on the palate with admirable complexity. Very promising. Rarely do they make brilliant wine here, but this 2015 is nicely perfumed with violets. The palate is beautifully balanced and enticingly fresh. The soil here is a little lighter (sandier) than further north in the Médoc, and Cantemerle's wines reflect this in their fluid, supple style. Chateau Cantemerle is one of the oldest properties in Bordeaux and its woodland setting is amongst the most beautiful in the Medoc. They produce about 25,000 cases of Chateau Cantemerle per year, a medium bodied elegantly styled Bordeaux that drinks well young and in its first two decades. Impressive richness and clarity of red and dark berries. Lightly spiced-pastry aromas, too. The palate has a very crisp, polished and groomed tannin texture, as well as super fresh flavors that carry long. Great wine. Try from 2022. Score: 95 James Suckling, JamesSuckling.com, February 2018 Wow. Real Cantermerle with stupendous power and depth. Mineral, stone and violet character. Full and structure. It starts slowly and then goes on for minutes. Perhaps best ever? Score: 95/96 James Suckling, JamesSuckling.com, March 2016 Based on 59% Cabernet Sauvignon, 27% Merlot and the rest Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, the inky colored 2015 Château Cantemerle offers a terrific bouquet of black currants, smoked herbs, earth, and hints of charcoal. Ripe, concentrated, rounded, and undeniably delicious, with ripe tannin, it's a terrific vintage for Cantemerle to drink anytime over the coming 10-15 years. 2018 - 2033 Score: 91 Jeb Dunnuck, JebDunnuck.com, November 2017
