J.B. Becker Wallufer Walkenberg Riesling Auslese Trocken 2011

In the series of dry readouts, this 2011 has almost no alcohol with 13.0%. Hajo only makes this dry selection in rare years. Of course from vines over 70 years old and organic and spontaneous fermentation. The nose is much more expressive than the late harvest Alte Reben. The wine impresses with its Assam tea note with quince, a very small hint of passion fruit and forest honey on brioche. Nice abundance of extracts. A little bit of spontinase, but not too much, rather subtle. The revelation comes in the mouth. It comes across immensely, there is almost sweet and fruity density, almost somewhat viscous, but totally dry with extreme but ripe acidity. An extreme Kraftmeier and still ultra slim. This is an extraordinary Riesling for decades of life with incredibly rocky minerality, salt and insane fruit acid complexity, plus fine, elegant petroleum notes. Significantly smoother than the straight 2010. At first drink maybe only for freaks, but on the second, third sip it shows the great complexity of the nature of a great wine.
